Tonight Elan ( ELN ) is down another 35% as the company released an SEC filing stating that two patients taking Tysabri were infected with the rare PML brain disorder.
These two incidents happened today and yesterday....both patients are in Europe....one still hospitalized, the other is at home and clinically stable.
Elan was $32 just days ago and now has fallen to $11.50 afterhours tonight.
ELN has strong support in the $7 range so if it got there it might be interesting. This is fresh news so tomorrow I will look to see how the market takes this news.
Watching my level 2 trading....i'm seeing big blocks coming in for sale: 500,000 share blocks coming in hitting the bidders. Not a good sign!!
ELN could trade between 80-120 million shares tomorrow I would guess. Who knows maybe more! Keep this stock on your watchlists.

Earnings 7-31 4pm - CHK, HNSN, BOOM
Last night we had great earnings from Visa and First solar....Akamai disappointed and it is getting killed today just like Garmin on Wednesday.
Tonight we have Earnings from Chesapeake Energy, Hansen Medical, Dynamic Materials.
Chesapeake Energy ( CHK ) - We already know their earnings might be effected by hedges they put on for the quarter relating to natural gas prices. I want to see what they say about their Shale positions, especially their Haynesville Shale play.
Dynamic Materials ( BOOM ) - I have been following this company since 2004-2005 when it was $3....have been in and out of it several times. This company has a product called explosive metal cladding....this is used on a number of things especially ships. Over the past year the blow out earnings quarters have tamed down. This is a stock to watch.
Hansen Medical ( HNSN ) Are you familiar with Intuitive Surgical ( ISRG )? The founder of ISRG, Dr. Moll, took HNSN public in late 2006. Hansen offers Sensei Robotic Catheter System, which is designed to allow physicians to navigate flexible catheters with stability and control in interventional procedures. They had no revenues last year but now are quietly selling these machines. This company will explode once they start making a profit. ( Similar to ENER..but different sector ) Keep an eye on this stock!

Earnings 7-30 4pm - Visa ( V ) First Solar ( FSLR ) Akamai ( AKAM )
After a great night last night from BWLD, Garmin came in with some very bad news this morning on their Nuvifone delay.
Tonight we have a number of companies due to report earnings
Visa (V) - Analysts are expecting Visa to earn .48 cents per share. This stock has really run up going into earnings but I expect a good report. How the stock reacts is a totally different story. Last quarter Visa was down big after the earnings release...opened the next day at $71....ran the whole day and closed near $78. They earned .52 cents last quarter.
First Solar (FSLR) - Analysts are expecting First Solar to earn .58 cents a share. FSLR is trading at a very high p/e ratio so any miss or guidance miss would be a huge disappointment and you would see FSLR really go down. If they come out and beat, and then raise...you could see First Solar really break out.
Akamai ( AKAM ) - I really like this company....Akamai basically powers the internet with their technology. Most of the Video that runs on the Internet is powered by Akamai.
That website shows you the traffic through Akamai system....it has basically doubled from a year ago. Earnings Guidance will be key tonight...so watch AKAM

This morning Garmin reported $1.19 per share, alot higher then expected. Revenues were a little light. They are cutting guidance and delaying their nuvifone until the first half of 2009. Very Bad News!
Other news, BWLD Buffalo Wild Wings beat earnings last night and the stock is up 10% today.
Freddie Mac ( FRE ) and Fannie Mae ( FNM ) are also set to move higher in pre market.

Earnings 7/29: Stock to Watch - BWLD, GMKT, USO
After a fairly good earnings release from Continetal Resources CLR this morning, the stock has gotten killed but is bouncing off the lows this afternoon. CLR gave positive comments about their Bakken Shale play
Tonight we get earnings reports from Buffalo Wild Wings ( BWLD )
BWLD is expected to earn .27 cents per share. BWLD has usually moved 5-10% on earnings.
Another stock to watch tonight 7/29/08 is Gmarket ( GMKT ).

Sohu.com Earnings - Amgen - AMGN
This Monday morning we have great numbers out of Sohu.com. Expectations were for SOHU to come in with .66 EPS and SOHU came in with $1.02 or Non Gapp of $1.07. Just incredible numbers!.
Amgen AMGN will also be a big mover today as on Friday evening they released positive bone drug data.

XTO Energy XTO - John Najarian CNBC - Shale
John Najarian has come on CNBC this morning and states that yesterday XTO has seen very active call buying and institutional buying the last couple days.
He stated the last time XTO Energy was this low....crude oil was in the $70's. He said if you want to play crude in a stock...this is the way to do it...usually it moves 2-1 higher or lower.
He also stated that XTO has been active in the Shale Plays which we already know!

XTO Energy - Chesapeake Energy CHK Stocks
Ok, so yesterday I wrote about how I went long on CHK and XTO....turns out I was 24 hours to early on a 10 day bear raid. I managed to add to my positions this morning. I feel money will soon be rotating back into Oil and Natural Gas as markets do not go straight down without a bounce or at least a short covering rally. I'm not sure who was selling below $47 but that is incredible how these stocks got so low.
Someone could pay $55 a share for each company on a buyout and get exposure to all the major shale plays in the United States. For only 26 Billion each. This stocks to me are very undervalued now.
If you think Natural Gas prices are going to $6-7 then you probably don't want to buy these two stocks.

XTO Energy - Chesapeake Energy CHK
Went long on both stocks this morning.....target $55-$58 in the coming weeks....it all depends on Natural Gas right now...so I'm picking a short term bottom but it could fall further possibly to $9.

Tonight is another action filled earnings lineup. Baidu.com, Amazon.com, and Chipotle Mexican Grill step up to the plate.
I will be watching Baidu.com the most as there is a report out today stating that Baidu has taken even more market share from Google in China. This would be huge. I will also be watching to see how Baidu Japan is doing.
Nutrisystem NTRI also reports earnings tonight....this could be a day traders delight!

Wachovia Bank WB - Caterpillar CAT Earnings
This morning we have had a number of earnings reports come out.
Wachovia Bank WB: had a wider then expected loss and cut their dividend to 5Cents from 37 cents. WB is trading in pre market $12.10 down 7.5%
I will note this on Wachovia.....about a month ago the Fast Money Guys told viewers not to buy Wachovia Bank until they cut their dividend....and today they did just that. Guy Adami on Fast Money told viewers to wait until WB trader 125 million shares on a down day to get long. Today could be the day you may want to get long.
Caterpillar CAT: reported solid earnings this morning $1.74 per share vs $1.54....stock is up 3% in pre market.
Brocade BRCD is buying Foundry Networks FDRY
Tonight keep your eye in ISRG earnings.....that stock moves bigtime!
Apple AAPL is down 10.50% at $148.70......I'm looking for $145 or lower and then I think it would be an interesting buy. The problem I have is all the good news is out.....your going to have three months of people questioning earnings and Steve Jobs health...no new products....rebate checks are done for the most part. I am hesitant to buy here. Just my opinion!

Apple AAPL Earnings Steve Jobs
Where was Steve jobs on the Conference Call? Hes never really on a conference call....but an analyst asked if there was anything wrong with Steve Jobs health and the CFO said Steve Jobs health is a private matter.
A private matter? He is the face of the company.....he is the Warren Buffet of Apple.
Apple stock is plunging afterhours to $148. I have in my technical chart from the weekend that there is support at $145......but given the plunge....I'm waiting this one out!

Roche buying DNA Genentech
Roche has offered to buy the rest of Genentech DNA for 43.7 Billion dollars. As you might know already, Roche already owns a 55.9 percent stake in DNA.
The Swiss drug maker Roche is offering $89 per share for the remaining DNA shares.
Genentech is trading above $96 in pre market so far this morning so it looks like their could be a taken over battle here. The market is pricing in a higher takeover price.
On another note, Merck MRK is postponing earnings until tonight at 4pm.

Earnings: 7/21 Apple AAPL CME
Next week is going to be a very busy earnings week. The drug make Merck kicks things off early Monday morning with expected earnings to be .83 cents per share.
Apple Computer also reports after the bell Monday....estimates are for AAPL for report $1.08 per share. I'm thinking they should come in at around $1.15. Anything less then this for me is a big disappointment. If Apple would miss $1.08, you would see it trade quickly into the $150's. Just look what they did to Google ( GOOG ). Google came in with $4.63 vs $4.74. This is equivalent to a company coming in with earnings of $1.54 when $1.58 was expected. It is very cut throat out there right now, especially with " safe haven " technology stocks. The market will kill a stock when they miss.

This stock has gotten absolutely obliterated over the past six months due to the government wanting to step in and regular the commodities exchanges. ICE is another one that is taking a beating because of this. If they report a solid number....look for this stock to move up in a big way. Analysts are looking for .43 cents per share on CME Group
