Dow Jones Analysis 2/12/09 Stock Market Analysis

The following is Technical Analysis for the Dow Jones ( DJIA ) for 2/12/09

Dow Jones Support & Resistance Levels - February 12, 2009

Resistance Levels: 8000, 8100, 8376, 8404, 8500

Support Levels: 7845, 7774, 7500

The Dow Jones held the 7845 low from last week but failed to close back over 8000 and the 10 day moving average at 8056.47...this is very bearish! I am waiting to buy on a close over the 10 day moving average.
Support continues to be 7845 and the Hogan Bottom at 7773.71. Every time we've been down in this 7900 level we have bounce. The next few days will be critical once again!

The Nasdaq continued the slide today and every bounce back to the 50 day moving average failed. Until we get back over this moving average, the Nasdaq is very vulnerable. The Nasdaq has shown great strength lately so when the markets finally turn, tech is where you will want to be. As long as we hold 1500, I remain bullish and will buy these pullbacks. I have been actively trading the QLD. For more technical analysis - Go Here

Stimulus Plan Update 2/11/09 February 11, 2009

The Stimulus Package is being held up in the House of Representatives today, February 11, 2009. Last night, a group that included Nancy Pelosi worked through the night to hatch out differences with Republican House members and the Senate. As it stands today, the Stimulus Package would be 838 Billion Dollars.

If this Stimulus package goes through as it stands, a new home buyer could get a $15,000 tax credit but the new package could hurt programs like no child left behind. There are also tax incentives for new car buyers.

Key Stimulus Highlights for Wednesday 2/11/09

- House and Senate trying to resolve differences in Stimulus Package
- Final Stimulus could be under $800 Billion
- Senate has passed the Stimulus, now waiting for the House to vote which could come as early as today. President Obama hopes to sign the bill by Friday night.
- House is thinking about cutting some of the $15,000 home tax credit, also not including the New Car incentive.
- Other various tax cuts could be in jeopardy

Americans for Prosperity - No Stimulus Petition - February 11, 2009

Baltic Dry Index Shipping Rates 2/11/09 BDI

The following is a report on Dry Bulk Shipping Rates for 2/11/09. This data is critical for how the DryBulk Shipping Stocks such as DryShips ( DRYS ), Excel Maritime Carriers ( EXM ), Diana Shipping ( DSX ), Genco Shipping ( GNX ), TBS International ( TBSI ), Navios Maritime ( NM ), and OceanFreight ( OCNF ) will trade during the day. As you probably know, the Dry Bulk Shipping index can tell you a lot about the state of the World Economy. When Bulk Shipping Rates are at all time highs, the World Economy is outstanding. When Bulk Shipping Rates are as low as they have been lately, it signifies that the world economy has come to a screeching halt.

Art Cashin CNBC 2/11/09 February 11, 2009

Art Cashin, floor trader of UBS on the NYSE, was on CNBC this morning ( 2/11/09 ) and gave his comments on what he sees going forward.

Where do we stand Art?

Timothy Geithner's plan was very troubling because they made this huge media buildup and we got nothing out of it. Even Barack Obama didn't want to talk about it much Monday Night because he didn't want to " steal Timothy Geithner's Thunder" and it turns out Timothy Geithner failed in his first big moment.

S&P 500 Analysis

Yesterday, we did some damage in the stock market....the S&P 500 stopped right at the bottom of the recent trend line at 822. This was the trend like that held 804 a few weeks ago. If we break 822 I think we could go down and retest the lows. The S&P 500 is holding on by a thing thread! For all of Art's Comments, go here

Bank Stocks 2/11/09 February 11, 2009

Today, 2/11/09, the bank stocks appear to be getting a bounce as stocks get set to open in about 2 hours. I continue to watch Bank of America ( BAC ) for signs of strength because if you believe this bank won't be nationalized, you can day trade it daily. Later today, some of the biggest Wall Street bank Ceo's will testify before Congress. Congress will be asking JP Morgan, Citigroup, and Bank of America some tough questions. With that said, I expect the banking stocks to be volatile today!

Banking Stock Update - February 11th, 2009

UBS AG ( UBS ) - $11.81 Up 5.25% - Swiss bank UBS AG loses $7.57 billion in 4th quarter, cutting 2,000 more jobs. This stock ripped higher yesterday but after the stock market fell apart, UBS gave back of its gains. UBS is bouncing right back this morning!

Citigroup ( C ) - $3.51 Up 5.24% - Citigroup is set the rebound after briefly trading over $4 yesterday.

Bank of America ( BAC ) - $5.72 Up 2.88% - Bank of America is the ultimate trading stock says Guy Adami on CNBC's Fast Money last night.
